daniel fast make it through

Happy New Year! We made it to 2016. It’s typical to start out each new year with some sort of resolution or plan for something we’re going to do differently than in past years. Most of us want to improve one or more aspects of our life this year. I created a vision board to capture the things I want to focus on in 2016. You can see it here. While my vision board isn’t in any particular order, the image at the top left is the 1st thing on my to-do list this year. I was diagnosed with type-2 diabetes in June 2015 and I must get my blood sugar under good control. My doctor wants my hemoglobin A1c to be under 6. My last reading was 6.7, so I have some work to do. The way my life AND greedy girl tendencies were set up over the holidays, I need to be aggressive in trying to get that number down before my next doctor’s appointment. I likes to eat. Yes, I said it, lol.

You may have also noticed that my vision board is Christ-centered. My relationship with God is the most important thing to me, so it’s important for me to stay spiritually connected. In that same vein, many believers and non-believers alike, start the new year seeking renewal. We might need physical renewal from a poor holiday diet or spiritual renewal. Many of us are seeking both, and turn to some sort of diet or fast to accomplish the goal. The Daniel Fast is a common choice to help accomplish both physical and spiritual renewal.

For the most part, a Daniel Fast is intended to be a simple diet. The idea being to eat simple foods that don’t require a lot of preparation. The excess time you save not focused on food and eating, you’re able to spend studying the Bible and praying. More specifically this fast helps to restrict or deny yourself certain foods you enjoy as an act of worship unto God. This is typically done for 21 days. So I’m sharing a couple tasty recipes that I adapted for my own taste and they are Daniel Fast friendly.
